National Government Services (NGS) wins Medicare contract for Jurisdiction 13
On March 18, 2008, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the award of the contract for the combined administration of Part A and Part B Medicare fee-for-service claims in Jurisdiction 13 to National Government Services. National Government Services (NGS) will serve as the new A/B Medicare Administrative Contractor (A/B MAC) for Jurisdiction 13 (J13), which includes the states of Connecticut and New York. First Coast Service Options, Inc. (FCSO) has proudly served as one of the nation’s largest Medicare administrators for over 40 years. As our name suggests, we are headquartered on Florida’s beautiful first coast, home to the nation’s oldest city, Saint Augustine. FCSO is one of Jacksonville’s largest employers with more than 1,100 staff in the city. Approximately 130 other associates are located in field offices in Miami, Orlando and Tampa, Florida and Meriden, Connecticut.
The mission of FCSO is strongly linked to the Medicare program and the beneficiaries it serves. We contract with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to provide quality Medicare administrative services to more than three million beneficiaries and the health care providers who care for them in Florida and Connecticut. These services include claims processing, customer service and various education and outreach activities. FCSO also performs financial management functions for CMS that help ensure the appropriateness of the Medicare benefit payments we issue.
